Lambretta LD Torsion bar fitting.

First job is to gather up all the bits needed for the torsion bar fitting.

Fit washer, circlip and rubber dust boot.

Press in the Bush with a standard vice.

Now the tricky bit, fitting to the frame and engine lugs. tension needs to be applied until to align the two holes and the second bush can be pushed through from the other side.

A well designed and cut piece of 3 x 4 and a few steel wedges and its as easy as 1,2,3.

Fit grease nipples and anti vibration washers and two circlips and the torsion bar is fitted. Job done.

Now Fit mudguard and the rear wheel can go on.

O, and the front wheel

  1. Great job. I would say that the engine has appeared from nowhere. You must have had some pain getting it the stage shown. Please say yes, otherwise you are making it all look too simple. I can't believe what you have achieved from what was a pile of bits. Will you ever let us know what it has cost? Hopefully your partner doesn't read your blog!
